Application and Admission Information
Students currently zoned for Polk County Schools Kathleen High School will receive and complete course elective forms for the new school year during the preregistration period of the current school year and will indicate interest in attending CFAA by selecting CFAA elective courses.
Students not zoned for Kathleen High School need to apply online during the posted open enrollment period at the Polk County Public School website for career academies.

Admission and Participation Requirements
- A student should have a genuine interest in the career area of choice.
- Transportation is not provided and is the responsibility of the parent/guardian unless the student is zoned for Kathleen High School.
- Students must maintain an unweighted GPA of at least 2.0 to be eligible to stay in the CFAA program.
- Students attending CFAA are expected to adhere to the CFAA uniform guidelines.
- Students are expected to maintain continuous academic progress.
- Students are expected to complete a career technical program of study and earn an industry certification.
- Students are expected to enroll in a Science and a Math course each year.
- Students are expected to volunteer at the Sun ‘N Fun Annual Fly-In during the spring semester each year.
- Students and parents are expected to sign an academy participation agreement each year student is enrolled at CFAA.
- Students accepted into CFAA are required to maintain acceptable attendance, academic, and discipline history each year of enrollment to avoid reassignment to zoned school.
- If a student is accepted into CFAA but prior to entering our program is reassigned to a district discipline program or expelled due to a violation of the Code of Conduct, he/she will be considered ineligible for admission.
- Fighting and Bullying are "zero-tolerance" offenses and may be grounds for dismissal from the academy.
- Out-of-zone students who leave CFAA must return to their zoned school.
- Out-of-zone seniors who leave CFAA will not be able to remain at the out-of zone school through the use of a "senior transfer."
- Student zoned for Kathleen High School who leave CFAA will return to KHS main campus.
- In the event a student needs remedial/recovery courses for any reason, these remedial courses may take up elective periods within the student's schedule restricting room for CFAA academy classes. If this is the case, the student would be ineligible for acceptance and/or participation in the CFAA academy will be required to return to their zoned school.
